Coach - Jacob Byrne

Jacob comes to MAC from a small town in Wyoming. Jacob likes to think that he comes from one of those “swimming” families where you just can’t leave the sport. (Jacob’s brother Jeremy swam NCAA II for the University of South Dakota and is currently an age group coach for Friends’ Central Aquatics in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania.) Jacob began swimming at the age of ten and continued through the end of his high school career. During that time he was a four year high school state qualifier, team captain, and manager of the girls swim team. Before deciding to attend the University of Montana, Jacob had the opportunity to swim NCAA III at Pacific University in Forest Grove Oregon.

Along with his background in competitive swimming Jacob has been a professional lifeguard for the last four years and was recently made a Head Guard for Missoula Parks and Recreation. Jacob is also a trained water safety instructor and has had the privilege to teach some of our younger swimmers one on one. Due to some grand cosmic scheme over the last two years as a swim instructor, age group coach, and volunteer coach of the gold squad Jacob has individually coached nearly all of MAC’s swimmers.

Jacob is currently attending the University of Montana to receive his degree in English Teaching.
